What is Mediation?

Family Care Center offers Professional Mediation services to help people:

  • Find solutions to their conflicts
  • Prevent difficult legal battles
  • Preserve relationships

Mediation is guided by a neutral, professional mediator in a confidential meeting, focused on finding solutions, fostering cooperation, and building understanding.

The goal of the mediation process is that the parties themselves arrive at a mutually acceptable resolution to their dispute.

Litigation is usually very expensive compared with the cost of Mediation.  Also, while litigation is often a win-lose process, mediation looks for a win-win solution.

The models of Mediation used include Facilitative, Transformative, and Directive.  Both pre-filing (voluntary) and court-ordered cases are accepted.

What Types of Mediation Cases are Accepted?

Mediation for Families may include issues of Divorce, Custody, and Parenting Time as well as Marital Reconciliation, Eldercare (Elderly parents and family/medical decisions), and Estate/Probate.

Mediation is also available for Churches and Businesses: terminations/resignations, conflicts between employer and employee, board conflicts, member or congregation disputes, discrimination, Real Estate, non-profit organizations, mental health related, insurance, and problems between businesses or between a business and a customer.

Mediator
Heath K. Lisenby, MA, LMHC, Mediator, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Registered Domestic Relations Mediator in the state of Indiana.

Appointments and Fees
Appointments are available Monday through Friday as well as on Saturday by special arrangement.  The fee for Mediation is $125 per hour and the fee is typically shared equally between parties. All appointments are scheduled for a minimum of two hours.  Appointment times lasting longer than 2 hours in length are available upon request and with special arrangement.

Regardless of how quickly an agreement is reached, no refund is available due to the pre-purchase of the mediator's time and facility space.  If the mediation process needs to exceed the pre-purchased time block, then 1 hour increments at $125 each can be purchased as needed.

Call Family Care Center today for a free 15-minute phone consultation to learn how Mediation can help you find your way out of conflict and into more peaceful solutions.
